Julie Grindle is Associate to the Bishop for Candidacy, Roster Care, and Mobility. She has served in this role since Spring of 2019 and is part time. She also handles roster issues and requirements for rostered ministers. As a church musician by trade for 30 years, she also brings a depth of experience to conversations around worship, music and liturgy.
As Assistant to the Bishop for Candidacy she handles all candidacy-related work, from being in conversation with those who in the beginning stages of discernment for rostered ministry, to celebrating with those candidates who have completed seminary and are being ordained. She is the point person for candidates when they have questions for the candidacy committee and works with seminaries when appropriate. Julie works with the candidacy committee organizing retreats and keeping them informed if there are decisions to be made or information needed outside of a retreat. She is also responsible for all candidacy-related paperwork.
As Assistant for Mobility, Julie is a tasked with helping to discern the next rostered minister (pastor or deacon) for a church in transition. With the help of the Bishop and the Deans, she stays in close contact with churches in transition, and routinely answers mobility process questions, including compensation questions with the assistance of Assistant for Operations Michelle Josephson. She vets potential candidates for churches and conducts interviews with them alongside the Deans and is also responsible for the paperwork included in this process.
As a final complement to this work, Julie handles rostering, transfers, etc., and makes sure that everyone is as up to date as possible in the Churchwide system.
