2025 Fall Ministerium featuring keynote speaker, Leila Ortiz
Join us October 27-28 for Fall Ministerium as the Rev. Leila Ortiz invites us to be “Partners In The Deep Waters of Baptism.”
In our time together at the beautiful Notre Dame Retreat Center overlooking Canandaigua Lake, we’ll wade into those deep, murky, sacred places where God meets us in our mess; where endings and beginnings swirl together like silt in a river. In these waters the Spirit does some of her most beautiful work- in the movement from death to resurrection- washing away what weighs us down and breathing new life into our being and our becoming.
Through Scripture and the rich wisdom of our Lutheran theology, we’ll rediscover the deep well of strength that flows from our baptism and cultivates a thirst for collaboration; where we are compelled to share, glean, and receive the gifts we each hold as partners in ministry for the sake of our fractured and beloved world.
Come as you are—tired, hopeful, questioning, faithful. Come ready to be surprised by grace and sent out with a heart full of possibility.
In August of 2025, Rev. Ortiz completed a six year term as bishop of The Metropolitan Washington D.C. Synod. She has significant experience in global Lutheran theological dialogue and is a published theologian, contributing to "Global Lutheranism: Vitality and Challenges," co-authoring a chapter in "Faith on the Avenue: Religion on a City Street" (Oxford University Press, 2014), and has been published in Gather Magazine, Dialog: A Journey of Theology, as well as workingpreacher.org.
