The Lutheran Summer Gathering at Silver Bay is a fun and relaxing weeklong vacation for spiritual and physical renewal. For 85 years Lutherans have played and prayed together on the shores of beautiful Lake George in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. It has elements of a destination vacation or a camping/ retreat experience.
Two folks sit in rocking chairs on the Inn porch overlooking the lake discussing morning classes and the impact of Luther and the Reformation on the world as others jog by on their way to the tennis court. Some remain on the beach building sandcastles others take to the lake in a kayak or sailboat. Possibilities abound for all ages - classes and conversation for adults, programs for children, as well as a teen group that adds new friends every year. If you need time alone, there is an Adirondack chair or a labyrinth calling to you. Or you can join in groups of varied ages swimming, playing chair volleyball, worshiping as the sun goes down, or eating s'mores at the campfire. Grandparents bring grandchildren and singles and families return again and again because their spirits are fed through Christian community in this peaceful setting.
Our theme for July 14-20, 2018 is Walking With Jesus, featuring Pastor Lee Miller II as our Chaplain and Pastors Arden Strasser and Gladys Moore as our faculty and Chris Schaefer as our Teen Leader.
