Campus Ministry exists to bear witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the academic setting through Word and Sacrament, that all might live in the fullness of God’s grace and share God’s love with all others. The purpose of the Campus Ministry at RIT is to establish, shape, maintain, support, and promote campus ministry to students, faculty, administration, and staff at RIT and other institutions of higher education in the Rochester area. We use the moniker, “The Table” when identifying our community around campus because each week we gather around the Lord’s Table and the dinner table. We want everyone to know that there’s always a place for them at our table.
One of our main concerns is to provide students with a faith community that is welcoming and allows students an opportunity to make new friends. We gather each week on Sunday occasion evenings for worship. Worship is always followed by a delicious meal provided by various congregations who support our ministry. This time of conversation and sharing has proven to be a great occasion for strengthening present relationships and creating new friendships. This is a time for us to gather as a ‘family of faith’ and check in with one another.
We have regular Bible studies and discussion groups as well as opportunities for service on the RIT campus. We also work with area congregations (by volunteering at food pantries and meal programs) and the Genesee Finger Lakes Conference (by helping with conference youth events).
We are fortunate to be part of the Center for Religious Life at RIT. The school provides worship and office space as well as a supportive community and colleagues.
