Reverend Greg Tennermann, Natural Systems Coordinator, Upstate New York Synod Staff

Rev. Greg Tennermann,
Natural Systems Coordinator

The part-time Natural Systems Coordinator works to promote congregational well-being through the means and lens of family systems thinking.  He works intentionally with the Upstate New York Synod and its congregations.  Trained as an Intentional Interim Pastor by the Interim Ministry Network and as a Bridgebuilder Consultant and Healthy Congregations Workshop leader by Peter Steinke, Rev. Tennermann is uniquely qualified for this work.

The synod’s participation in the Natural Systems grant supported program involves the coordinator attending quarterly sessions of the ELCA Academy in Chicago and then sharing those learnings to develop ‘systems’ savvy leaders in our synod.  Part of the Natural Systems Coordinator’s responsibility is to recruit and train new Healthy Congregations workshop leaders who in turn will offer workshops across the territory of our synod.   The coordinator works with the synod Conflict and Healing Team facilitating the team’s work with congregations and providing expanded training in systems theory.  The team walks with congregations at times of change, conflict, or difficulty, working with rostered ministers and congregations to become healthier and stronger in their ministry.  We are confident that God can call us forth to new life and therefore we live in hope even as we struggle through difficult and changing times and experiences.
